Screen Loader
Turn your pictures or an animated GIF into the SP-404MKII's power-on images and screen saver. It runs in your browser, so your pictures are never uploaded, and it uses Roland's own feature, so no firmware is involved.
1Add pictures
Or start from one of ours:
How pictures are sorted
- One or two pictures on their own become the two power-on images.
- An animated GIF becomes the screen saver, up to 16 frames.
- Files named
startup_1,startup_2orscreen_saver_1toscreen_saver_16go exactly there. - Everything is fitted onto the 128 × 64 black screen, never stretched.
2Check them
Power-on images
Shown one after the other when the SP starts.
Screen saver
The preview plays at 4 frames a second. The SP sets its own pace.
3Put them on the card
The pictures go into a project you've exported from the SP to its SD card. When you import that project back, the SP picks them up.
No project on the card yet? Export one from the SP first
- Put the SD card in the SP.
- Hold SHIFT and press pad 14 (IMPORT/EXPORT MENU).
- Turn VALUE to “EXPORT to SD-CARD”, press VALUE, choose “PROJECT”, press VALUE.
- Press the pad of the project you want (it lights orange), then press VALUE and confirm.
- Put the card in this computer.
Write to the card
Chrome or Edge on a computer. Pick the SD card; we find the exported projects on it. Pictures already there are saved to your Downloads first.
Download a ZIP
Works in any browser. Unzip it onto the card, or copy its PICTURE folder into your exported project.
Pictures are saved as 128 × 64 one-bit BMP files, the format in Roland's SP-404MKII manual (“Customizing the opening screen / screen saver”). Tested on system 5.52. Not affiliated with Roland.
