Save your sound
Store a sound in a slot with a category and a name, and what the screen says along the way.
A sound you made only lasts until you load another one. Save stores it. You choose a slot, a category and a name, then press Save to write it. The factory presets are protected, so your sounds go into the other slots.

The steps6 steps
- First make a sound worth keeping: turn a few knobs (Cutoff, Resonance, Wave, anything).
Stuck?
Any knob counts.
- Press Save. The screen goes into save mode and lets you pick a slot with the Preset knob (the factory slots are protected).
Stuck?
Save is the button to the left of Utility, on the top row.
- Turn the Preset knob to pick a different slot if you like, then press it to confirm the slot.
Stuck?
Press the Preset knob (click it) to move on to the category.
- Now turn the Preset knob to choose a category, such as Bass or Lead, and press it. Categories only help you find sounds later.
Stuck?
Turn to a category, then press the Preset knob.
- Type a name: turn the Preset knob to change the first letter, press it to move to the next one. A few letters is enough.
Stuck?
Turn the knob to change a character, press to move to the next.
- Press Save again to write it. The screen confirms the save. Your sound now has a place and a name.
Stuck?
Press Save once more.
Slot, category, name, Save. A preset keeps its knobs, matrix, both sequences and its per-preset Utility settings; it does not keep Hold, Spice and Dice results or arp patterns.
On the real MicroFreak
On the real synth, pressing Save twice cancels (the screen flashes Save Cancelled), and a long press on Save writes the sound to the slot it came from without asking for a name. If memory protection blocks a save, the screen says Memory protect is on. Names use upper case, then lower case, then numbers; turning the knob fully left gives a space. You cannot save while the Utility menu is open.
Where the model differs
The model keeps your saved sounds in this browser only.
Questions2
Can I overwrite a factory preset?
Not by default: factory presets are protected. In Utility > Global > Misc, Mem protect can be set to Off, but it is safer to save your version into a user slot.
Is a sound saved when I power off?
Only if you saved it. At power-on the MicroFreak loads the last preset you saved.
