The steps3 steps · a tour
  1. Firmware 5 added the four sample engines, 512 preset slots and a new bank of presets. These lessons describe it.
  2. Updates come through Arturia's MIDI Control Center app. Arturia describes two phases: the synth first, then the factory samples. Keep it on and connected until both finish.
  3. Before updating: back up presets and samples, power the synth with its own power supply as well as USB, and connect it directly to the computer without a hub. Press Finish.

Firmware 5 is where the sample engines, 512 preset slots and a new preset bank arrived. Update through MIDI Control Center, follow Arturia's steps exactly, and back up first.

On the real MicroFreak

Firmware 5 added four sample-based oscillators (Sample, Scan Grains, Cloud Grains and Hit Grains), user sample import through MIDI Control Center, 52 factory samples and 512 preset slots with a new bank of presets. Arturia describes the update as two phases: the synth is updated to the new firmware first, then MIDI Control Center reconnects and sends the factory samples. Keep the unit powered on and connected until both finish. Arturia recommends powering the MicroFreak with its own power supply as well as USB, and connecting it straight to the computer, not through a hub. Follow Arturia's current instructions for the exact steps.
