SuperFreaker changelog

What each SuperFreaker version changed, so a report can say exactly which one you flashed.

Last updated October 17, 2026

The version is in the file name the patcher gives you (for example superfreaker_v0_1_2_5_0_0_2084_…mff), on the patcher page, and in the email it writes for you. From 0.1.2 the start-up popup also shows it: SUPERFREAKER v0.1.2.

0.1.2: the randomizer and the gliding echo

Built on official firmware 5.0.0.2084 like 0.1.0. Most of this comes from beta reports. There is now one build, with Loud as the only option: everything that was in Essentials and Sound is always included.

  • Randomizer: Shift + Amp Mod rolls a new sound (oscillator type and Wave/Timbre/Shape, filter, both envelopes, LFO, Glide). Cutoff, Decay/Release and Sustain never land near zero, so almost every roll makes a sound. Volume, the arp, the sequencer and the effects stay as they are. There is no undo: save the preset first if you like it.
  • The echo follows Echo Time like a tape echo. Turning Echo Time no longer makes the repeats stop and start: the time glides and the pitch bends a little on the way, and the repeats keep going. Echo Glide has four settings, OFF (the old behaviour), GENTLE, MEDIUM and WILD. MEDIUM is the default. Step it with Shift + the cycling envelope’s Mode button, or under Utility › Preset › Voice; it is saved with the preset.
  • Echo Hold keeps what you were hearing. With a glide mode on, switching from Echo to Hold keeps looping the echo you had, and switching back does not restart it.
  • Echo Reverse and Hold work on the same tape. With a glide mode on, Reverse plays the last stretch of the echo backwards (up to half a second, whatever Echo Time is), and switching between Echo, Hold and Reverse does not restart or leave a gap.
  • Echo Sync. A new line under Utility › Preset › Voice: with it ON, Echo Time picks a note value of the tempo, from a 32nd to a quarter note (the screen shows the note as you turn Echo Time), and follows tempo changes.
  • Echo Mix is a true dry/wet balance (the dry sound fades out as the echo rises, and at the top you hear the echo alone), the echo is louder, and Echo Feedback at its top no longer runs away.
  • No clicks or chirps from the echo and reverb, and the echo’s routing is set once at start-up, so turning Echo Mix up from zero no longer clicks.
  • Fold, Drive and chords are cleaner: the Wavefolder has an output trim, Drive reaches about twice the gain at its top, and chords in Paraphonic no longer drive the effects twice as hard. A value of 1 to 3 on an effect now counts as off.
  • New parameters are recorded by the sequencer’s motion recording.
  • The start-up popup reads SUPERFREAKER v0.1.2 instead of the official firmware’s 5.0.0.2084.
  • The metronome is gone for now. We removed it to make room for the new features; it will be back in a later version. Shift + Panel does what it does on the official firmware.

Known behaviours in this version are as in 0.1.0.

0.1.0: open beta

First public build, free for everyone, on top of official firmware 5.0.0.2084.

  • Essentials: separate Release, Legato Glide, value readouts, Preset Volume and preset jump, Transpose, Shift latch, metronome, sequencer shortcuts, MIDI extras, Ignore Program Change, Ignore MIDI Start.
  • Loud: about 7 dB more level on the headphones and the main output.
  • Sound: Drive, Lo-Fi, Noise, Tremolo, Wavefolder, Sub Octave, and the tape echo with Echo, Reverb, Reverse and Hold; touch-pad shortcuts for Sub Octave, Echo Mode and Echo Feedback.

Known behaviours in this version:

  • Tape echo and Legato Glide are mono only.
  • Echo Hold is silent until it has recorded once.
  • Echo and Reverb sit after the filter; Cutoff does not shape them.
  • While Shift is held on, the Volume knob sets Preset Volume.

The controls are listed on SuperFreaker on the unit. Back up first and read the recovery guide before you flash.
